In recent years, as the globalization grows faster and faster, the trade scale has expanded rapidly. With no doubt, China has more and more economic trades with the rest of the world. Therefore, with the processing of the international economic trades, it is more and more important to translate business English well, which makes the research on the translation methods of business English quite important and urgent to English translators.Business English plays quite a key role in the economic and trade activities. However, in business English most sentences are complex with complicated structures. Besides, much business English has a passive voice. Therefore, we translators should know well about the different types and structures of the complex sentences. The translation of business English should be accurate, elegant and fluent so that the information and linguistic characteristics can be expressed precisely and faithfully. Moreover, it also requires translators to acquire translation methods and skills of such kind of sentences in order to translate the source text accurately and faithfully, in which way the characteristics of the source text can be showed and expressed completely. Affected by the thoughts and theories of German Functionalism, the author tries to discuss the translation methods and skills of the complex sentences in business English from the angle of different types of the complex sentence. It can be found that in business English there are three main types of complex sentences:complex sentences with nominal clauses, complex sentences with adverbial clauses and complex sentences with attributive clauses.According to the practices of the author, different types of complex sentences can be translated in various methods, such as linear translation and division for complex sentences with nominal clauses, conversion and pre-attributes and post fixed methods for those with adverbial clauses etc. By analyzing such types of complex sentences in detail, the author will discuss different translation methods through combining the translating practices with the theories, which hopefully will be useful to the business English translation.
