Simulative Interpreting Report On The Speeech "My Ten Years With Kunqu Opera" Of Baixian Yong

With the improvement of Chinese international status, cultural soft power has become an important factor influencing the competitions among countries. The capacity of culture communication bears practical significance on improving a nation’s global image and cultural impact. Some foreign-related lectures and speeches have been important components of interpreting activities. Thus, this thesis chooses a simulative interpreting practice to sum up some disciplines and methods about cultural interpretation.This thesis is a simulative interpreting report based on the speech called "My ten years with Kunqu Opera" of Mr. Bai Xianyong. In this report, the arrangement of staffs and procedures are based on a real conference interpreting model.The preparation before interpreting acts an important role in this whole process. In the evaluation part of this thesis, the interpretation methods of culture-loaded words and idioms are be discussed through case analysis. Culture-loaded words are bestowed with unique national characteristics. The research on them can not only make contributions to get a better understanding of different nation’s culture, but also promote the communications between different countries.Finally, it turns out that the more the interpreter knows about the related background knowledge and professional words, the better the interpreter can interpret. On the other hand, you will feel more relaxed and confident with a good acknowledgement about the content of the speech during the interpreting. However, paraphrase may be an appropriate way of interpreting the culture-loaded words and idioms. Thus, we’d better abide by the three basic procedures of paraphrase:1.understand the source language; 2.separate from the source language; 3.express the content and feelings of the source language through another language. Meanwhile, cognitive supplement will be a right way of describing and showing the qualities and characteristics of culture-loaded words and idioms.
