| With the "Chinese fever" spreading rapidly all around the world, the sector of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages in the People’s Republic of China is currently undergoing an unprecedented development, research and discussion about Chinese teaching methods are becoming increasingly intensified. A variety of teaching methods and media to teach Chinese as a foreign language are constantly being introduced into the classrooms, with movie sessions being one of them. As a new and developing medium for teaching a language, it is interesting, informative and shows remarkable teaching effects. In class, teaching happens through the appreciation of the students for the television and movies under the guidance of the teacher, to fully develop the students’ listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation skills, they learn pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, cultureand other integratedlanguage skills, while attaining a greater understanding of the Chinese culture. Audiovisual teaching methods are rich in teaching content. They offer an open and strong ability to guide studentsinviewing, analyzing, discussingand exchanging their views on the course of events in the respective movie; student will naturally acquire knowledge about language and cultural. Traditional teaching methods cannot fulfill these standards.This work discusses the research status about audiovisual media being used in teaching foreign languages and teaching Chinese as a foreign language and the specific issuesthat exist inteaching through these methods. Currently, Chinese as a foreign language is being taught with a variety of media and forms, film appreciation courses have been adopted by all major foreign language teaching institutions. Butthey are still at a preliminary stage of development,there are no specific teaching material sand improved standards to regulate this kind of teaching. Besides, these classes are often elective courses, students hardly ever spend a considerable amount of time for the courses, and therefore it is difficult to achieve the expected goals of Chinese language teaching.That is why the author’s intention is to investigate onhow to makesuch acoursebecomemoreefficient, scientific and standardized.This paper summarizes the results of previous studies,discusses the overall design of film appreciation courses, and points out some of the problems of teaching through film and television programs that should be noted. In this paper, the movie "GuaSha" (Scraping) is used as an individual case for teaching Chinese as a foreign language through audiovisual media. Courses usually can be separated into three different segments, namely before, during and after watching the movie. The author hopes that, through research and in order to study the results, other domestic teaching facilities refer to the study when teaching through film appreciation. |
