Since thirty years of reform and opening up, happened to huge changes of Chinese people’s social life, these changes are reflected in the language as the most important communication tool of human beings. As the most active language factors--vocabulary, it will assume the task of recording language changes. Chinese new words emerge as the times require such as bamboo shoots after a spring rain. New words embody the new life, new culture of contemporary Chinese and people’s daily lives. For teaching Chinese as a foreign language, new words are Chinese learners an important window to understand contemporary Chinese culture and social life, so the new words should be as a part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. However, the research on the Chinese new words since 2000 has just started.the development is still not mature. The study of old words with neology is more scanty. Neology is end owed with an old word with new meanings and new usage, usually by the old meaning extension or the use of rhetorical means. Neology in learning to increases students’vocabulary and the ability of guessing words.In the study of Chinese Neology from the past, mainly concentrated in the collection of words.analysis of words and teaching materials and teaching methods were suggested. This study is to do is:first of all, to determine the object of this study, the data collection of the neology, which are produced since 1978, then by the comparing of neology from different dictionaries,197 words are determined; secondly, research on the 197 neology, including the reasons,approaches, language features and register sources, but also relates to the relationship between the neology and the new words group, the teaching of neology can be combined with the new words group, it will improve the students’ vocabulary; finally, the teaching suggestions of neology, including the selection of vocabulary and suggestions for classroom teaching. The selection of teaching vocabulary is innovative, according to the statistical results of word frequency of 197 neology, the top 100 words can be used as teaching vocabulary.
