This is an English-Chinese translation report, whose source text, Accident(about 13,000words), adopted from Canadian writer Alice Ann Munro’s collection of short stories, the Moons of Jupiter. The present report consists of two parts: the translation itself and the report on the translation practice. The report makes clear the translation task, theory, process and typical problems. During the process of translation, the author tries to achieve dynamic equivalence under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory advocated by American translation theorist Eugene Nida. The most difficult problem the author met in translation is the understanding and representation of the technique of stream of consciousness. The most important part of the whole report mainly discusses various typical problems such as the translation concerning description of psychological activity of the characters, the translation of long and complicated sentences and processing of the religious culture by means of specific translation strategies and skills. The author hopes that this report can offer some implications for literary translation.
