A Report On The Translation Of “a Comprehensive Study Of The Brazilian Wine Market”

The E-C translation report is based on a translation task received in September 2014. The task has a certain scale with 17,714 words and time about thirty days which was independently finished by the author. The report mainly discusses the text type, translation process and case analysis. In addition, the report casts a deep reflection on problems and this translation practice.This report firstly introduces the general content of the source text and states the significance of the report. And the report gives a further analysis from the lexical and syntactic perspectives. In the translation process, the report mainly describes the preparation work before translation, the implementation of the translation and after translation. The preparation work includes the selection of translation tools and information searching, choice of translation theory, usage of translation strategies, formulation of the translation plan and glossary making. In while translating, the report covers quality control and process description. In after translation, the report discusses self-evaluation and the entrusting party’s evaluation. In case analysis, the report analyses the lexical difficulties(such as the translation of abbreviation, polysemy and translation of terminology) and syntactic difficulties(the translation of passive voice sentences and long and complicated sentences) based on the characteristic of the source text, and then the report gives correspondent solutions. Finally, the report casts a deep reflection on problems occurring on the translation process and the report will offer a certain reference to translation project in future.
