Interpreting Practice Report On Human And Computer Creativity During ICCAME In 2014

This is a practice report on English to Chinese whispered interpreting, it is set in the International Conference of Chinese Association of Mathematics Education in 2014 that the author participated in, the report aims to describe the entire process of English to Chinese whispered interpreting in these three stages of the preparation before the interpreting, during the interpreting and after the interpreting by selecting the presentation titled Human and Computer Creativity made by professor Bronislaw Czarnocha from New York City University. The report discusses the related interpreting strategies and solutions through the analysis of some problems in the interpreting.In the part of the interpreting task review, the report mainly describes the three stages of this interpreting task, namely the preparation before the interpreting, during the interpreting and dealing after the interpreting,emphasizing the different contents, exactly, the preparation before the interpreting includes the long-term preparation, short-term preparation; in the stage of during the interpreting, the report listed both the transcript and the mistaken interpretation of the author to make a contrast; while in the stage after the interpreting, the report focuses on collecting the client’s feedback and reflectionIn the part of case analysis, the report describes the distinguishing and dealing of the redundant disclose marker, application of the theory of syntactic linearity to make the interpreting prompt and integrated and attributing the reasons of the mistaken interpreting respectively by analyzing the field interpreting in these three aspects of the redundancy of the discourse markers, the guiding theory of syntactic linearity for the field interpreting and the analysis of omission and misinterpreting through the typical examples selected. It aims to find out the problems so as to improve accordingly.The report achieved the conclusion: 1.The preparation before the interpreting is of vital significance to the entire interpreting task and thus it must be given the special attention, in particular the communication with the target guest before the interpreting; 2.Dealing of the redundant discourse marker will help to make the interpreting coherent, but the redundant discourse marker must be be distinguished from those bearing practical meaning so as to avoid the loss of some effective information; 3.Application of nonverbal communication in the whispered interpreting with the client will help to prevent the missing of information to make the interpreting completed; 4.Interpreting theory and the encyclopedic knowledge serve as the theoretical guiding and knowledge base, an interpreter should strengthen the learning and command of the encyclopedic knowledge by combining the theoretical learning and technique practice, besides, an interpreter should also strengthen the practice of the psychological resilience to meet the challenge of the field interpreting.
