Interpreting Practice Report Guided By Syntactic Linearity

As economic globalization strengthens,the communication between China and the world becomes more frequent,covering a wider range of industries from academic exchanges to conferences between Chinese President and heads of other nations.Therefore,simultaneous interpretation is vital to make sure conferences run well.This report on interpreting practicing is accomplished with the experiences and problems found and accumulated by the author during interpreting one of episodes of a reality show called Super Brain.Super Brain is introduced by Jiangsu Satellite TV(JSTV)from Germany.It is a great reality show specialized in scientific competition.This show focuses on spreading scientific knowledge of brain and brain competition.From beginning to end,the show aims to uncover the secret hidden in the talent world standing from a scientific point of view with assistant of scientists.What's more,the show selects challengers and invites them to join in Chinese team to compete against international team collecting challengers form the world.Then the show organizes competitions to select the super brain of the world.This report is made up of four parts:The first part is task description.It is divided into three sections.First,it introduces the reasons why the author chooses Super Brain to carry out simultaneous interpreting and indicates the reasons and meanings of selecting this episode to interpret as well.Second,it introduces the meaning of simultaneous interpreting(SI)and pinpoints two main troubles which appear in SI——limits of short-term memory(STM)and lack of time.Third,it presents the definition of syntactic linearity and explains how it works in saving time and reducing burdens of STM during SI.The second part is task process which involves preparation before simultaneous interpretation and the process of SI.It talks about details of how to make preparation and what the author has learned during interpreting.Its purpose is to provide more information for reference in the future.The third part is related to case analysis.This part narrates some techniques that interpreters are able to apply to simultaneous interpreting,under the guide of syntactic linearity.Besides,it explains how to use these techniques and how they work in saving time and easing burdens of STM with respective cases.At the end of this thesis,the last section is to conclude.It makes a conclusion about what has been mentioned in the context,and clearly points out that interpreters have to do a lot of practice everyday and to sum up experience.It is hoped that this report can be a reference for relevant studies in the future.
