The report finished on the basis of the author’s translation of the first two chapters of work on social sciences Outrage and Hope: Social Movements in the Internet Age by Manuel Castells. Manuel Castells makes the book published after participating and studying in the technology-based social movements.Technology-based social movements revolutionized in the Internet age. Translation of this book may offer foremost academic trends to the field of social sciences and provide a platform for readers to see the latest international developments. In today ever-changing natural science technology, it is necessary to keep tabs on the latest information of international academic trends. Translation makes it possible for anybody with an interest in this field to get relevant information. Thus, translators function as a bridge of domestic and overseas information. Translators provide a platform for readers to acquire knowledge and update knowledge base of related domestic fields.There are five parts in the report which are introduction, task description, translation process, case analysis and conclusion. The introduction includes background information, purpose and significance of the report. The task description includes the source text analysis and requirements, the content and features of the source text. The translation process consists of three aspects, i.e., before translation, while translation and after translation. In case analysis, the author selects some examples to show how to flexibly apply translation strategies, such as domestication and translation methods, such as translation methods of translating long sentences, conversion of word classes, addition and omission, to meet the receptivity of target readers. In the conclusion, the author summarizes experiences gained from the translation practice,and also points out the limitations in the translation practice and the author’s limited ability.
