With the rapid development of globalization and the growing exchanges in different fields between China and other countries in the world as well as the fast development of science and technology, a large amount of new science and technology has been introduced into China. As a result, a large number of promotion projects on science and technology are required to be translated from English into Chinese. The text of promotion projects on science and technology is a special type of writing with distinctive features in the text itself, lexical and syntactic structure. Thus, it not only requires the translators to know the characteristics of this kind texts, but also requires the translators to choose proper translation theories to guide the translation. At the same time, proper translation strategies and methods should be applied to translation practice flexibly.This report discusses and summarizes the characteristics of promotion projects on science and technology, explores the translation theories used in the translation of TIBCO Spotfire Analytics Platform and puts forward the translation strategies based on the practice with the hope of guiding the related translation practice in the future. The present report consists of five parts. Part one describes the background information and significance of this report. Part two gives a overall description of the translation task from the analysis of the source text and the source requirements of the task. In Part three by introducing his translation plan, translation tools and resources, the choice of translation theory and translation strategies, glossary making, the implementation of the translation, quality control and the evaluation of the translation, the author gives a specific description of the whole translation process from before translation, while translation and after translation. Part four describes how to solve the problems in the translation under the guidance of the Skopos theory and the application of translation strategies as well as some translation methods in detail with some cases. Part five gives a summary of this report.
