On February 11,2010, the International Olympic Committee declared at its session in Vancouver that Nanjing had won the bid of the Second Summer Youth Olympic Games. Ever since then, Nanjing started intense preparation for Nanjing 2014. The author had eight-month full-time internship in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (NYOGOC). She was responsible for planning and organising regular conference calls between IOC and NYOGOC and interpreting for NYOGOC,leaders during con-calls; translating important documents including President Jacques Rogge’s video speech on Nanjing 2014’s Emblem Launch; receiving IOC leaders and administration including President Jacques Rogge, Mr. Alexander Popov, Mr. Gilbert Felli and Mr. Antoine Goetschy, offering protocol services and language services; interpreting for IOC colleagues during Nanjing 2014 sports venues survey; interpreting for provincial and municipal government leaders including Li Xueyong, the governor of Jiangsu province, Ji Jianye, mayor of Nanjing, and Yang Weize, secretary general of the CPC Nanjing Committee at Nanjing 2014 Emblem Launch. This thesis is a project report, in which the author analyzed her interpretation practice at NYOGOC, studied four major issues and difficulties and proposed solutions respectively. She finds that there are mainly four qualities expected of interpreters in context of international sports games organization:basic interpreting skills, cross-cultural communication capability, terminology of sports competitions, international sports organization knowledge. Therefore, interpreters must strengthen their interpreting skills, improve their cross-cultural communication capability, increase terminology of sports competitions, and learn international sports organization knowledge. These are the four necessary qualities that an interpreter must be equipped with when working in international sports games organizing committee.
