| This original text is part of Marriage( Same Sex Couples) Act 2013, which embodies typical features of statutory texts. The objective of the thesis is to deepen the cognition of the translation of statutory texts on family law through solving problems that arose in the E-C translation process, so as to enhance the ability to translate legal texts. During the translation process, three issues arose: the translation of legal terms, understanding of systematized structure of statutory texts and the translation of culture-related words on religion.To solve the three problems on lexical level,with the guidance of Peter New Mark’s theories of semantic translation and communicative translation and relevant methodologies of legal translation, all the issues were finally resolved through methods like literal translation, amplification and omission in translation.Since the questions the author raises are typical and common for novel translators who would like to devote on legal translation on statutory texts, she hopes that her reflections on those questions could, to some extent, help them in their learning process of statutory texts on E-C translation. |
