The content-rich maritime activities thus had developed and became an important part of the culture. The Neolithic culture in Liaodong Peninsula is consisted of three regions: the southern tip of the Peninsula and the islands area; the Peninsula’s northern coast along the Huanghai Sea and the western coast along the Bohai Sea. The cultural sequence, originated in the Middle Neolithic, including Xiaozhushan lower culture and Houwa lower culture; developed in the late Neolithic period, including Xiao zhushan middle culture, Houwa upper culture and Santang culture Period One; ended in the Chalcolithic period, Xiao zhushan upper culture, Beigou culture and Santang culture Period Two included. The study of maritime activities covers three aspects: fishery activities, marine cultural exchange and maritime belief. Fishery activities were evolved from one-way fishing to multi-way coexisted, and the location from offshore to the open sea. As the transportation hub of the Bohai rim, Liaodong Peninsula had different degrees of contacts with the Shandong Peninsula, Korean Peninsula and the western Liaoning Province, standing an important link in the spread of the agricultural civilization around the Bohai rim. Maritime belief was a kind of worship of the God of wind and the God of sea, emerged by the two activities above, causing a huge impact on coastal areas.
