The Study Of Maritime Activities In Bronze Age Liaodong Peninsula

The special geographical characteristics of Liaodong Peninsula,which had three sides surrounded by the ocean,established the connection between the ancient people and the ocean at Bronze Age.This connection led the maritime activities become an important part of the ancestors' life living.The civilization sequence of the Liaodong Peninsula during the Bronze Age can be listed as:Primary Shuangtuozi Civilization,Secondary Shuangtuozi Civilization,Tertiary Shuangtuozi Civilization,and Shuangfang Civilization.The Maritime Activities of ancestors of Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age will be discussed from three aspects,they are:Economical Activities,Cultural Communication,and Cultural Factors of Ocean.Economical Activities consist of fishing,salt making,salt industries,etc.The research of ancestors of Liaodong Peninsula concludes that ancestors had developed formal methodology to improve fishing skills.According to the existence of the saline-alkali on the unearthed fish bones and historical literatures,it could conclude that salt industries of Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age had been developed.In terms of Cultural Communication,ancestors in Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age continued communication traditions at Neolithic Age,Jiaodong Peninsula,and Chaoxian Peninsula.In different stage,the frequency and intensity of cultural communication were various.For Cultural Factors of Ocean aspects,many ancient artifacts of Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age were unearthed and were found ocean related.Those ancient artifacts reflected that the ancestors of Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age were dramatically affected by the ocean.By compare the Maritime Activities of ancestors of Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age and at Neolithic Age,this article concluded that:the ancestors of Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age had improved the fishing skill and shipbuilding skill;it was an absolute difference in Cultural Communication.These differences reflected the improvement of many aspects of the ancestors of Liaodong Peninsula at Bronze Age than at Neolithic Age.
