With China’s economic development and tourism developing prosperously, an increasing number of Chinese and foreign tourists choose to travel abroad, which has become the dominant force in China’s economic development. Hence, tourism translation comes into a prime being, playing an significant role in translation. This paper is a Chinese to English translation project. The original text is a real project commissioned Xi’an Tianma International Travel Service, named U.S. and Canada’s 15 Days Tour from Western to Eastern Coast of Xi’an Tianma International Travel Service. This report consists of an introduction, a main body and a conclusion. The introduction is to elaborate the background, the purpose and importance. There are task description, translation process and case analysis in the main body. The task description is to introduce the client requirements and analysis of the source text; the main body includes translation preparation, translation process and post-translation. The case analysis is to introduce some typical difficulties and solutions. The conclusion is to state the characteristic of tourism text, insufficiency in this report and advice. This text belongs to a tourism text, which includes the introduction of attractions, travel scheduling and management and so on. During the translation, the translator needs to fully understand the differences between Chinese and English. Therefore, the translator takes the amplification, omission and restructuring as translation methods to solve the difficulties of translation and domestication as translation strategy to make the readers understand the text fully. The translation methods and strategies are based on the Skopos theory, and the purpose(Skopos) of the translation can no longer be deduced from the source text but depends on the expectations and needs of the target readers. This report indicates that a translation can proceed smoothly with many factors. the requirements from the entrusting party and parallel texts set the tone of the target text, while proofreading can correct mistakes in the translation,, and the translation methods and strategies play a directive role during the translation. I hope my work can provide some insights for other translators.
