Comparison Researches On The Mural In Kizil Grottos Of The 6^th Century And The Tombs Of North Qi Dynasty

As an increasing attention paid in the utilization of rocky-color pigment of Ancient frescoes, academic research related to this field are needed in practice for further study. Focusing on’Rock-color language’ and the origin of pigment, this paper conducts a comparative analysis of rock-color resource and fresco color style in Kizil Grotto Fresco and North Qi Tomb Fresco, which are influenced by their regions. Depending on theoretical analysis, practice, and replication of samples, the similarity and difference of the usage of pigment in different regions are obtained. The results show us that color style of ancient frescoes is greatly influenced by its region, as well as the reason of this phenomenon. Similar ways of research have never been done before, and this paper would provide a certain extent of theoretical basis for the reconstruction of ancient rocky-color art.
