The development of society and the changes of environment brought great uncertainty to people’s life and caused strong tension somewhat, especially for college students. The purpose of this study is to investigate the status of undergraduates’ stress and subjective health complaints, and to explore the influence of stress and stress coping mechanisms(stress expectation and coping style) on subjective health complaints based on the Cognitive Activation Theory of Stress.Four instruments were employed in this paper: the College Stress Scale, the Self-designed Stress Expectation Questionnaire for College Students, the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire and the Self-revised Subjective Health Complaints Scale. The samples were 751 university students coming from four universities: University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Sichuan Normal University, Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Technology. The study used SPSS17.0 and Amos17.0 to analyze the survey results and got the following results:(1) The Self-designed Stress Expectation Questionnaire for College Students composed of 25 questions, including four dimensions: Academic Stress Expectation, Stress Expectation of Personal Growth and Interpersonal Relationships, Stress Expectation of Negative Events, Stress Expectation of Love, meted with the need of Psychometric standard. The Self-revised Subjective Health Complaints Scale composed of 12 questions, including two dimensions: Physical Health Complaints and Mental Health Complaints, meted with the need of Psychometric standard.(2) The total stress of college students is light; there were no significant difference on the gender factor; there were significant difference on the factor of subject types, singleton or not and grade. The results of subjective health complaints showed that the undergraduates had medium degree of subjective health complaints at present; there were significant difference on the factor of gender, subject types and grade and no significant difference on singleton or not.(3) By Pearson product moment correlation and regression analysis, this paper discovered that, stress expectation, undergraduates’ stress, negative coping style and subjective health complaints had significant correlation, college students’ stress, stress expectation, negative coping style can predict the level of subjective health complaints.(4) Stress expectation is a moderator variable in undergraduates’ stress affecting subjective health complaints; Negative coping style is a moderator variable in undergraduates’ stress affecting subjective health complaints.
