Withthe popularity of WeChat, a growing number of marketers make full use of this public platform to send texts to WeChat users regularly so as to achieve their purpose of publicity and sales. This translation report is based on the translation practice of WeChat texts about childhood education that the translator took part in Chengdu Suncoo Education Consulting Co. Ltd in 2014. The source texts collectedfrom overseas parenting websites are to introduce overseas philosophy and methods on child-rearing. Most of their target readers are parents who have children aged from 3 to 12, therefore, the translator should consider their practical situation and needs when translating. In relation to WeChat texts’ linguistic characteristics of being plain, concise and simple, the reportexplores the translation strategies at lexical level, syntactic level and discourse level by citing examples in the light of Nida’s functional equivalence theory. This theory is proved to be of theoretical guidance for the translation of WeChat texts about childhood education, it has instructive significance for the diction of words, adjustment of sentence orders as well as cohesion and coherence of texts. The translation report is composed of four chapters;Chapter Oneintroduces thebackground information, purpose and significanceof the translation task as well as the report structure.ChapterTwo describes the whole translation process, including pre-translation preparation which concerns the analysis of source texts and theoretical basis, difficulties and coping strategies during translation as well as post-proofreading. Chapter Three is the main part of this translation report. In this chapter, the main translation strategies used to achieve the functional equivalence between the source texts and the target texts are analyzed separately atlexical level, syntactic level and discourse level. The translator applies word conversion and lexical meaning extension in translating words, employs reverse translation and amplification in translating sentences, and adopts free translation and adaption in translating texts.Chapter Four presents conclusion for this translation report, and also puts forwardsthe limitations of the research and makes suggestions for further study and researches.
