Japanese han painting is an important form of painting in the muromachi period which is greatly influenced by landscape painting in Southern Song dynasty, we can say that Japanese han painting mainly developed by learning from Southern Song style of painting.Southern Song dynasty landscape painting style can not develop in Japan without the support of the shogun. In this paper, we discuss the Southern Song dynasty landscape paintings’ development in Japan, which is the r esult of the development of sino-japanese trade.Besides the zen painters’ frequent exchanges in the two countries as well as shogun collected a lot of the Southern Song dynasty landscape paintings, are all the main channel of how the Southern Song dynasty landscape painting can spread in Japan. The influences of the Southern Song dynasty landscape painting on Japanese han are in various aspects: on the composition, the corner conposition of Ma Yuan and Song Gui in the Southern Song dynasty is popular among Japanese paintings; On the technique, both the big horse, summer appeared Cun, and the zen forms of ink painting are all fond by Japanese; Motif in art, and well painted Chinese zen xia oxiang eight sights are in line with the theme of the Japanese people’s aesthetic taste, which cause Japan emerged a large number of eight sights in han paintings.Japanese han painting is one of the main painting styles in muromachi period, and it is well influenced by the Southern Song dynasty landscape painting. Research on this topic is helpful to promote the communication of art and culture between the two countries and mutual penetration.
