| This is a translation report on Red, White and Black authored by Gary Baring Nash, a famous American historian. The translator selects “Chapter Eight: The African Response to Slavery†as translation practice and solves some translation problems under the guidance of some translation theories.The report mainly includes four parts. Part One is the translation project description, namely,the background information about the translation project, the author and the book. Part Two is the introduction to the translation process, including the preparations before the translation, the translation process and corrections after translation. Part Three is the key part of the whole report,the part putting translation theory into practice. This part is about the problems I met during the translation and the theoretical reflections and conclusions. Meanwhile, the analysis and application of “dynamic equivalenceâ€, “translation shift†were also included in this part. Part Four is a brief summary of the whole translation report, including translation inspiration,translation experience and lessons and problems left unsolved. |
