The translation of the works on Australian racial history plays an important role in deepening Chinese people's understanding of Australia.Black and White Australians narrates Australia's racial history during the period from 1788 to 1975,and Chapter 1-2 mainly about the marginalization process of aboriginal Australians and the relevant history of black Australians.Under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence theory, the author translated the two chapters and studied the translation of vocabulary loaded with Australian regional culture as well as the translation of long and complicated sentences. For the translation of vocabulary loaded with Australian regional culture, the author adopted the methods of amplification, exteiasion and foot notation. For the translation of long and complicated sentences, the author applied the methods of inversion, splitting and synthesis. It is hoped that this translation practice can supplement the material on Australian racial history in China and meanwhile provide a valuable research approach for scholars who are engaged in the translation of Australian racial history.
