The Application Of Trados In The English-chinese Translation Of Pharmaceutical And Chemical Engineering Literrature

Along with the accelerating process of globalization, translation industry develops vigorously and traditional translation industry is not able to meet the growing demands of translation. The emergency of computer-aided translation software represented by Trados alleviates translators’ burdens and relieves the growing demands of translation. This thesis intends to introduce the application of Trados into the translation of pharmaceutical and chemical engineering literature. Chapter one of this thesis introduces the case “Concept design of pharmaceuticals and medicine making procedure”, then analyzes language features of pharmaceutical and chemical engineering literature from vocabularies,sentences and grammar aspects. Chapter two summarizes the computer-aided translation and machine translation, then introduces the features of Trados software and the main modules of Trados software, and at last tells its evaluation. Chapter three discusses the actual application of Trados into the translation of pharmaceutical and chemical engineering literature, including preparation before translation, discoveries during translation and management after translation, and then analyzes advantages of computer-aided translation, and points out the problems discovered during translation and also proposes corresponding solutions. Chapter four makes the conclusion.
