Error Analysis Of Thai Students’ Use Of The Prepositional Phrase “Zai+Location”

Thai students are prone to make errors in the prepositional phrase"Zai+location’ representing place. Based on the preposition corpus in the overseas students’written Chinese in the College of Chinese Languageof Jinan Universityand corpus of the test questionnaire, this paper conducts investigation to the errors of Thai students’use of the prepositional phrase "Zai+location", sums up the types of errors, and identifies the reasons of the errors, hoping to be helpful to the Chinese teaching in Thailand.This paper content mainly includes seven chapters:chapter one is the research origin, research objectives and methods, the research overview and innovation points. Chapter two is to make contrastive analysis of the prepositional phrases representing place between Chinese and Thai language, point out that the similarities and differences and predictthe errors that may be made by students. Chapter three is to find out the types of errors according to the statistics of the results of natural corpus. Chapter four is to find out the types of errors according to the statistics of the results of test questionnaire. Chapter five is to find out the causes of errors according to the results of natural corpus and test questionnaire. Chapter six is to put forwardcorresponding suggestions on teaching and dictionary compilationaccording to the causes of the errors. Chapter seven is the summary of this paper, and to pointout the deficiency of this paper.
