A Study On The Language Adaptation Of Children Of Henan Migrant Workers In Guangzhou

With the speeding up of urbanization in China, the trend of individual mobility, among migrant workers, to family mobility has become increasingly apparent, which has given rise to a special group——migrant workers’ children. This group has a lot of problems in language adaptation.Taking the children of Henan migrant workers in Guangzhou as an example, we comprehensively investigated their language use, language competence, language stress, language adaptation, and language attitude. Then we performed a statistical analysis and related description.Among mandarin, Henan dialect and Cantonese, Mandarin is the fastest for the children of Henan migrant workers to adapt to, followed by it is Henan dialect. And the Cantonese is the most difficult be adapted to. Mandarin plays a major role wherever in school, society or the family. They think highly of Mandarin and use it very frequently. But the evaluation of Cantonese is the lowest, and people rarely use it. The evaluation of Henan dialect is between the two. There are some social and cultural reasons here. As time goes on, there will be some changes. There are some factors that affect their language adaptation, including environment, time and individual factors.Finally, based on the conditions of the language adaption and its influencing factors, we try to put forward some countermeasures and suggestions about the language adaptation. It is that we should build a language countermeasures system, including family, school, society and the children themselves, to help the children of Henan migrant workers to adapt to the language environment in Guangzhou.
