Depression is a mood disorder or emotional disorder as the main symptoms caused by a variety of reasons, and it is a kind of depressive mood of self experience as the center of clinical symptoms or condition. Depressed mood is an unpleasant experience. College Students’ depression symptoms seriously disturbs all their academic performance, interpersonal communication, and other aspects of life. At the same time, the high frequency rate of college students’ depression symptoms highlights the urgency of the mental health problems of college students.This study focuses on the effect of depression on College Students’ academic self-efficacy. On this basis, it’s found that there is a close relationship between depression and academic self-efficacy, and that self support plays mediating role in issues related to depression and academic self-efficacy. About 850 students of different academic background, professional, grade were randomly selected as subjects of survey questionnaire from five universities in Hubei Province, Guangdong Province, Tianjin City, Liaoning Province. It’s through the descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis methods to get the research results, at the same time, viewing the psychological quality education theory as the theoretical basis, to construct College Students’ depression mechanism, in order to provide theoretical and empirical support for carrying out the college students’ psychological health coaching to help students to keep a healthy state of mind.The results of this research are as follows:1. College students’ depression, self control, the overall social support, and general self-efficacy have significant differences in terms of grade. At the same time, college students’ self control has significant differences in terms of gender. College students’ depression and the overall academic performance have some significant differences in profession. The university general social support has significant differences in the residential area and whether he/she is only child.2. There is a close relationship between college students’ depression and self-control, social support and academic self-efficacy. The academic self efficacy, self-control and social support have positive correlation relationship, while college students’depression, self-control, social support and academic self-efficacy have negative correlation relationship.3. The multiple regression and path analysis shows that grade, professional, residential area are the factors influencing College students’depression symptoms. Grade, professional and residential area as intermediary have indirect effect on depression symptoms respectively through academic self-efficacy; meanwhile, self-control and social support as intermediary have indirect effect on depression symptoms.The study shows that by improving and developing students’ ability to regulate themselves, seeking social support, can effectively alleviate the symptoms of depression in college students. The study reveals the internal mechanism of depression, which provides an important basis for theoretical research and preventive intervention in this field.
