Thailand is located in the center of Southeast Asia, and it is an important country in the ASEAN region. In history, the recorded bilateral exchanges between China and Thailand can be traced back to the Western Han Dynasty. Chinese extensive and profound traditional culture had a great impact on the formation and development of Thailand’s political culture. After the cold war, the world political situation has changed from the former supremacy by the United States and the Soviet Union to the current multi-polarization development. Peace and development have become the theme of the new era. International cultural exchanges play an irreplaceable role in promoting the development of bilateral relations. In order to catch this hard-won opportunity and create a peaceful and stable environment, both China and Thailand carried out a series of cultural exchanges in manifold areas at different levels during this period, laying a solid foundation for promoting the sustainable development of the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.This thesis provides a conclusion and summarization of the achievement and characteristicof cultural exchanges between China and Thailand after the Cold War, together with ananalysis of problems and their corresponding solutions. The first chapter is the introduction.In this chapter, the author describes the writing background and research significance, theresearch situation of domestic and foreign scholars are summarized and reviewed. In thesecond chapter, the concepts of cultural diplomacy and culture are defined, as well as the roleof culture in the development of Sino-Thai diplomatic relations in the importance of ourcountry are described; the third chapter concludes and summarizes the achievement andcharacteristic gained in the process of Sino-Thai cultural exchanges, and from the culturalexchanges we can explore the experience of reference for cultural diplomacy. The fourthchapter analyzes the problems occurred in the process of interaction between the twocountries. The fifth chapter provides the feasible countermeasures of promoting furtherdevelopment in cultural exchanges between the two countries. Through promoting traditionalculture, enforcing the prosperity of cultural industry, developing cultural exchanges in religionand art, we will uplift our country’s cultural soft power. The last chapter is the conclusion. A general summary will be provided and it will fully affirm the developing prospect and broad space of our bilateral cultural exchanges.In recent years, with the deepening of exchanges between the two countries in various fields China and Thailand gradually constructed a cooperative partnership. The frequent interaction contacts between senior leaders on both sides, the two governments to promote and establish the multi-level exchanges and cooperation mechanism in terms of religious art, language, education, science and technology, tourism and other industries. At the same time, due to the friendly relationship between the two peoples in history, further exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture will help promote the friendly feelings between the two peoples, and make great contributions to promoting the development of bilateral relations. In 2012, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck visited China, and the two sides signed the "Joint Declaration on the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership". It further promoted the all-round and healthy development of bilateral relations. As an important relation in Southeast Asia, the development of Sino-Thai relationship to China’s development is of strategic importance, especially with the appearance of our government proposal of building the 21 st Century "Marine Silk Road".At present, domestic scholars on Sino-Thai relations mainly focus on the economic and historical aspects. Research on post-Cold War cultural exchanges between China and Thailand is not emphasized. Thus this thesis is to do some simple exploration, making up for the vacancy in the field.
