Directional complement has been a prominent difficulty for Mongolian students in learning Chinese, regarding both the frequency and the type of the error. Collecting relative research achievements, the author discovered that relating to directional complement acquisition of foreign students, there has been an increasing number of researches and studies at present, among which a majority focus on English and Japanese students, while few target on Mongolian students. Under this circumstance, the author set 13 compound directional complements as the research subject, studied the learning and using conditions on directional complement and summarized the type and the reason of the error when acquiring compound directional complement based on questionnaires to students and natural corpus.By deepening the study of compound directional complement and its error analysis, the author integrated her own teaching experience as a Chinese volunteer teacher in Mongolia and put forward some countermeasures on teaching, hoping to assist the teachers who serve Mongolia students as teaching objects. The thesis is composed of six parts:I. “Introduction”, introduces the reasons of choosing the subject, the research purpose and the research method.II. The existing literature review, which can be separated as two parts. The first part reviewed the existing research achievements and academic development relating to the subject, which helped the author to utilize the achievements and regarding them as a theoretical support of the thesis. The second part is achievements in teaching aspect.III. Research on compound directional complement acquisition of Mongolian students, regarding students’ writing works as a natural corpus and the questionnaire as unnatural corpus.IV. Analysis on the errors produced by Mongolian students when acquiring the compound directional complement, which also concluded three types of error and reasons of the occurrence.V. Teaching strategies relating to the subject, which were put forward from the levels of the teacher, the teaching material and the student combined with the teaching practice.VI. Conclusion, to conclude the thesis.
