Solution-Focused Approach(SFA) is an psychological intervention method developed under the positive psychology background, which focus on strength and future of somebody, and is target-oriented. So far, it has been adopted by the upcoming online psychological intervention through Instant Message(IM) conversation. However, studies on the characteristics of this kind text dialogues and evidences on its effectiveness are still insufficient. This study will analyze the characteristics of text dialogues under the SFA; discuss the effectiveness of IM conversation and the mechanism behind it. The experiment was conducted in three directions and on two popularity group of college students and nurses. The first part of the study analyzed the text characteristics of 5 skilled SFA adopters and 9 beginners on a microanalysis perspective, when they transferred verbal conversations into text. The result showed significant differences between skilled adopters and beginners on the numbers of formulation, questioning and positive expression. SFA had been proven to have more complicated formulation, opening questioning and more positive expression which can be used to guide online IM conversation. The second part of the experiment adopted a univariate quasi-experimental design and was conducted on 120 college students which had been randomly divided into App group, Writing group and Control group. The App and Writing group were under interventions for 7 days while the control group was under no interventions. Testers used various techniques during the interventions including actively-guided opening questions, complicated formulations, positive intervention tactics and Solution-Focused skills. Test subjects was presented with questions and replied either through cell-phone app or writing. Testers would then complete formulations using personal messages. The result showed significant improvements in positive attention bias and positive emotion ratings and also declines in negative attentional bias, which implied the intervention based on the characteristics of text dialogues under SFA was effective. No significant difference was found between the App and Writing groups. The third part of the experiment used a univariate between subjects designs, and was conducted on 180 nurses which were randomly divided into experiment and control groups. The intervention methods have expanded based on the second part, and the duration was increased to 21 days. The interventions were implemented in the Wechat group. The result showed significant improvement in positive emotion ratings and life satisfaction ratings and declines in working stress scores. This intervention method had been proven to be effective among the nurse population. In conclusion, the effective application of SFA- IM intervention has got its preliminary validation, hinting it could be an effective way for Internet psychological intervention. Due to the limits of sample size and therapy duration, the results may be impacted. Further study could increase both of them and look for further validation.
