An Intervention Study On Friendship Quality And Loneliness Of Senior Two Students In Rural High School Applying Solution-focused Group Brief Counseling

In the practice of psychological counseling in high schools in rural areas,I have found that although there are individual differences in the reasons for students' proactive visits,a certain type of problems will show the concentration of grade or stage.For instance,the reasons for senior one students to take proactive visits mainly are about adapting to the environment,learning about and initially contacting with psychological counseling;for the senior two students,confusion about the relationship of friendship in interpersonal relationships has been more shown;and for senior three students,they are more concerned about personal development and learning stress release,or the test anxiety counseling before and after examinations.With 50 cases from all the three grades selected randomly,and then divided and counted,it can be found that the demand for interpersonal relationship counseling in senior two,which has accounted for 44%,is the strongest.Most of it(34%)is caused by the confusion of friendship.Combining with previous studies,I have also found that there are grade and geographical differences in the quality of friendship indeed:the problem of friendship quality is most prominent in grade two,and the friendship quality of rural students is facing more challenges.Therefore,on the basis of previous researches,a questionnaire survey has been conducted on 610 students in 10 classes of grade two in a rural senior high school,which would help us to understand the general characteristics of friendship quality belonging to senior two students.The survey has shown that there are significant gender and class differences(ordinary classes and key classes)in grade two.Students from one-child family have great different performances in affirmation value and conflict betrayal of friendship quality.After the correlation analysis on friendship quality,loneliness and recent academic achievement of senior two students,it can be concluded there exists significant negative correlation between friendship quality and loneliness among senior two students,and trust respect has a significant negative predictive function to loneliness.But the correlation between friendship quality and academic achievement is not so significant.Loneliness is not significantly correlated to academic achievement.SFBT(Solution-Focused Brief Therapy)rose from the 1980s.It is a forward,positive counseling technology which never deeply explores the cause of the problem,but reconstructs the solution to the problems,applying methods aiming at goals and future,so as to inspire changes.In this paper,12 students were randomly selected through voluntary registration and pre-interview from the subject classes in grade two.They participated in the Solution-Focused Brief Group Counseling with intervention on friendship quality.Meanwhile,another 12 students were selected as the control group according to the homogeneity requirements,without intervention.Intervention results have shown that Solution-Focused Brief Group Counseling in this paper can help to improve the friendship quality of senior two students.There were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group.The general loneliness of the experimental group decreased after the intervention,and there were significant differences in pure loneliness,perceptions of individual social competence and evaluation for the present peer relationship between the two groups.Although the correlation between friendship quality,loneliness and academic achievement is not so significant,but in the examination after the counseling,the academic achievement of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group.It's obvious that Solution-Focused Brief Group Counseling has a positive effect on students' academic achievement.
