In recent years, as China’s international status rise steadily, people from different countries become interested in Chinese and Chinese culture, and begin to learn Chinese, among which are Thailand people. In Thailand, Chinese has become the second most popular foreign language, ranking immediately after English. Chinese course has been set from the first year of many primary schools, and there are even interest course of Chinese in Kindergarten school. For students of younger age, learning Chinese is not only for daily communication, but also for understanding Chinese culture. Despite the increasing popularity of Chinese, there still lack of concrete study in the teaching of Chinese to Thailand students, especially in the theory and practice of cultural vocabulary teaching. Cultural vocabulary teaching constitutes one of the most important parts of vocabulary teaching of Chinese teaching as a foreign language. This thesis will mainly focus on how to conduct teaching practice of cultural vocabulary according to different teaching materials, how to spread culture through vocabulary and learn vocabulary through culture, and how to improve the effect of Chinese teaching as a foreign language. Based on the book1-book4 of Experiencing Chinese, which are used as middle school teaching materials, the writer carried out a statistical analysis on cultural vocabularies in each book, understood the arrangements of cultural vocabulary in each book, discovers problems in cultural teaching in Tailand and provides solusion and strategy accordingly.The thesis consists of following four parts:Chapter 1: Introduction. It contains the reason of the title option, the goals, meanings, research methods of the poject and the relating conditions and status que of cultural vocabulary in the Chinese teaching toward Thailand students.Chapter 2: Based on National Syllabus of Graded Words and Characters for Chinese Proficiency, categorized method and statistical analysis of the cultural vocabulary in Experiencing Chinese are proposed as well as the analysis of statistical results. The topics which contain these cultural vocabularies are well analyzed statically and deficiencies and suggestion are also pointed out in the thesis.Chapter 3: according to the statistical results, the existent problems of cultural vocabulary teaching in the series of Experiencing Chinese are discovered and their relevant strategies are offered.Chapter 4: According to the previous analysis and strategies, the cultural vocabularies in the cultural parts after class are included in the teaching design, which is adjusted according to the teaching effects.In summary, the content of the whole thesis has been summarized and the deficiency and endeavor are also guided.
