‘Ren’ is a core word in contemporary Chinese, where a lot of words composed by ‘Ren’ or Chinese characters with the radicals of ‘Ren’ represent a family in Chinese vocabulary system, which is called ‘Ren Family Words’(RFW). Due to its large quantities, RFW is an important component of second Chinese vocabulary, especially the <New Chinese Proficiency Test Outline>(<Outline>). In this paper, the RFW of <Outline> are divided into three categories for study: compound words with the morphemes of ‘Ren’, ‘Ren’-radical based monosyllabic words and ‘Ren’-radical based disyllable compound words. Combining the methods of static and dynamic, descriptive and analytical, quantitative and qualitative, we analyze the RFW ontology detailedly and comprehensively from three aspects of semantics, structure and pragmatics. In addition, we also analyze the types and reasons for errors of RFW using based on the ‘HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus’(HDCC) and proposed some scientific and effective teaching methods. At the semantics level, the RFW are classified by semantics firstly. Following we count the number for each sense of RFW respectively and discuss their sense extensions. At the structure level, we analyze the structure of RFW detailedly. At the pragmatics level, we count the frequency of usage and errors based on HDCC, then analyze the types and reasons of errors. As a result, the teaching principle, teaching content, teaching method and practice method for RFW are proposed based on the analysis above. This paper first considers the RFW in <Outline>, which are studied by the method of ‘Family Words’. Our work provides a new approach for the research of vocabularies in <Outline>. Moreover, we hope that our work can improve the vocabulary teaching by practical examination.
