Porous pottery is a kind of common artifacts unearthed in Bohai, Liao and Jin Dynasty. To differentiate the shape of porous pottery, it can be divided into 2 types: a porous cuboid with three holes or a porous polyhedron with 9 ~ 15 holes. The issue is that we are not so sure of the functions and uses of these two kinds of porous pottery. Some people think that it is a tent component, with some people conceive that it is a tool to make rope. And there is not yet a comprehensive, in-depth discussion about it.This article is a deep study on the porous pottery, by collecting all archaeological information about it, giving a conjecture that considered with literature and history, and doing experiment to verify the conjecture.Dissertation is divided into six parts.(1) Introduction(2) Research History and Literature Review(3)The Classification System of Porous Pottery(4)Space Distribution of Porous Pottery(5) Conjecture and its Verification of the function of the porous pottery(6)ConclusionIn this part, there is a review of this article and its limitations.
