A Practice Report On The Simulated CI Of “Mencius’s Wisdom” In Lecture Room

In recent years, China has paid more and more attention to the education of traditional culture, which also arouses great attention among other countries. There are more than 400 Confucius Institutes all over the world at present. Many ways of advancing and enriching the fine cultural heritage of China emerge as the times require. Lecture room is a program presented in CCTV-10. The contents of this program include history, culture, biology, medicine, economy, military, etc. Lecture room is an effective way to disseminate traditional Chinese culture. “Mencius’ s Wisdom” is a lecture given by Professor Fu Peirong in Lecture room. This thesis is a simulated CI of the lecture, with the aim of providing tentative experiences in interpreting similar materials.In this thesis, some interpreting problems are mainly analyzed, such as the culture-loaded words, expressions and sentences, information loss, improper pauses and repetitions. After careful analysis, some solutions to the problems are also put forward, such as transliteration with necessary explanation, improvement of note-taking ability, adjustment of psychological state.It is hoped that this thesis can be helpful for interpreters to do consecutive interpretation of similar materials concerned with Chinese culture and improve their interpreting ability.
