As the interpreter of the Training Course of Civil Engineering Techniques For South Sudan in 2015, the author writes this report based on his interpreting experience. Under the guidance of the translation theory of Peter Newmark as well as the Interpretative Theory of Translation represented by Danica Seleskovitch, the interpreter adopted Communicative Translation and Semantic Translation method throughout the interpreting process. The interpreter introduces his preparation process and elaborates on the problems he encounters in the interpreting such as the technical terms, fuzzy expressions, complex sentences and Chinese subjectless sentences. Such interpreting methods and skills as semantic translation, free translation, addition and passive voice were applied accordingly. Conclusions are made in the end of the report. The readership or listenership is the top priority in interpreting the informative text and the subjectivity of the interpreter must be brought into full play while abiding by the working ethics of the interpreter so as to do a better job in interpreting. The report is written for the purpose of providing reference to those engaged in the interpretation of such field and making Chinese civil engineering techniques better known to the outside world.
