The translation report whose text is from the first seven chapters of an English novel —Ice Kissed. The author of the novel is a famous America young writer—Amanda Hocking. Besides, there is not a Chinese translation of the text at home and abroad yet. Given of all that, there is no doubt that the translation practice which is based on the text is rather significant. The translation practice is mainly guided by the Vinay and Darbelnet’s Model. The model includes two strategies, including the direct translation and the oblique translation, which are divided into seven "procedures". The direct translation covers three "procedures":borrowing, calque and literal translation. The oblique translation covers four "procedures":transposition, modulation, equivalence and adaptation. The translation report analyzes and explains these seven "procedures" through specific examples. In addition, there are also translation problems which Vinay and Darbelnet’s model can’t solve. Translating French place name is one of translation difficulties, which is solved by translation methods of transliteration and free translation. When dealing with other difficult sentences, according to different features of sentences, the translation report adapts different methods to solve these problems. These methods cover "Following the Original Syntactic Order", "Turning Phrases into Clauses" and "Reinventing Sentence Structures".The translation report, to some degree, conveys foreign thought and culture to domestic readers. In addition, through this translation practice, the writer also improves own translation level.
