This is a translation practice report.The translation project was originally selected from The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass,which was written by Frederick Douglass,the leader of the American abolitionist movement.The writer uses the literary form of autobiography to expose the inhumanity of slavery in the south.Under the guidance of the Model of Vinay and Darbelnet,the translator discusses the problems that may be faced with in the translation of biography literature.The autobiographical essay is the combination of history and literature,and the writer thinks that only by combining the two parts can a good translation work be made.This translation report is divided into five chapters:The first part describes the task,characteristics and significance of translation practice.The second part mainly introduces the translation process,including the interpretation of the original text and the preparation before translation.The third part is a brief introduction to the theory of translation.The fourth part is the case analysis,which is the core content of this translation practice report.Based on the English version of The Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass,first of all,the writer analyzes the stylistic features with the guidance of the Model of Vinay and Darbelnet;secondly,the writer uses specific translation strategies as well as methods for preliminary discussion and research;finally,the problems and errors encountered in translation process are analyzed and summarized.The fifth part is a summary of the translation strategies and methods adopted in the autobiographical novels,and the reflections after the translation.The writer strives to be close to the original text by collecting relevant materials,the writer makes full use of her skill to achieve a more fluent and accurate translation,and gains experience in future translation.
