A Report On The Translation Practice Of Minority Languages And Multilingual Education (Chapter Two)

The book of Minority Languages and Multilingual Education was mainly written for emphasizing the importance of the Multilingual Education, therefore awakening people’s awareness towards it. As an academic work, on one hand, it involves a lot of academic terms and abbreviations, on the other hand, the strict sentence structure as well as the tight content are the greatest features of this work. In order to achieve the faithfulness to the original text, the translator intended to analyze this translation practice from both vocabulary and sentence perspectives, and meanwhile summarize the difficulties confronted during the translation practice and put forward corresponding solutions.There are totally four chapters involved. A brief introduction is shown in chapter one mainly introducing the background of this translation practice as well as the meanings of the selected subject. Chapter two gives an illustration of the translation preparations including the language features of the source text and the determination of the translation tools. The core content of this translation report is provided in chapter three which specifically tells the difficulties encountered and the corresponding translation strategies used during the translation practice. The final chapter is a summary of this report, which is about the reflection of the shortages of the translator along with some personal feelings and experiences.This report emphasizes that only to use appropriate translation methods at the right time that can make sure the accuracy and fluency of the target text as well as maintain the style of the original text. At last, the translator hopes the experience summarized from this translation practice can be of some value to students majored in English translation or those who are interested in English translation.
