With the acceleration of China’s economic globalization, international financial and economic news has attracted more attention than ever in China. The translation of such news, a major way for Chinese people to know financial and economic events worldwide, has been attached great importance to. It is big challenge for translators to produce high-quality translation to help Chinese readers know global financial and economic news more timely and precisely.Financial and economic news published by major news media, such as the Financial Times, New York Times and Reuters, is the major research content of this paper. Their linguistic features are distinctive, marked by the frequent use of long and complex sentences and professional words, which has brought some difficulties for Chinese readers to understand. In this paper, functional equivalence theory is adopted to analyze the translation methods and standards of long and complex sentences in financial and economic news. Translation experience is also summarized.The organization of this paper is as follows:the first part makes a brief introduction of the translation texts; the second part illustrates the specific process of this translation task; the third part is case studies; and the fourth part is summary.
