The Problems In The Translation And Explanation Of The Vocabularies In TCFL Textbooks And The Countermeasures

For the most foreign students, in the course of Chinese learning, textbooks are the first materials for them.The quality of textbooks have become one of the most important standards to prove the learning efficiency.And the English explanation and translation of Chinese characters are the most important medium for students to understand Chinese character. But there are a lot of problems in English explanation and translation of characters.The classifications inspired by Contrastive Analysis Theory and Equivalence Theory.The essay carries on the analysis of English explanation and translation from three following perspectives:semantic, pragmatic, grammar. Retrieving typical cases in HSK dynamic Composition Corpus and analyzing typical mistakes from HSK dynamic Composition Corpus. The research has shown that the explanation and translation of characters have a great influence on chinese learning of foreign stdents.According to the research, There are some suggestions from three respects:semantic, pragmatic and grammar.In semantic,Adoptting adding comments behind the translations.In pragmatic, Illustrating the meaning by listing examples sentences. In grammar, Learning from others’ strong points and close the gap, use other versions of the textbooks’ strong points for reference. The solutions be hoped to reduce the negative influence of the explanation and translation. Therefore,teachers, students and translators need to pay more attention to it. This paper argues that there are problems in translation of TCFL textbooks. The reserch trying to explore the countermeasures to solve the problems of the English explanation and translation of Chinese characters.
