Research On The Textbook "Practical Chinese For Tourism" And Its Usage

Learning language and culture can not be separated without textbooks, so in order to meet the needs of "Travel in Chinese", Peking University Press published a set of textbooks which have a tendency to major of tourism, and it is called "Practical Chinese for Tourism", and Zhang Meixia as its chief editor and it is written by Shen Chanshu, Zhang Meixia and Mo Li. These textbooks are divided into "Natural Landscape Part" and "Cultural Landscape Part". This study is mainly based on "Practical Chinese for Tourism" as the object of study, to analyze "Practical Chinese for Tourism" from the structure, texts, words, exercises and illustrations and so on. Through analysis and evaluation of this textbook, we make recommendations for the teaching of "Practical Chinese for Tourism" in the classroom. This paper can be divided into the following sections:The first chapter is as the introduction part. We analyze ideas and frameworks of research from the aspect of background, literature review, main contents, purpose and significance, methodology of research. Firstly, we point out that learning "Travel in Chinese" can not be separated without textbooks, and "Practical Chinese for Tourism" has typical features, which is the background of research and then we study the literature review from the view of research and research of textbook of "Travel in Chinese" and we point out the scarce study of "Practical Chinese for Tourism", in order Analyses of this thesis can enrich research in this textbook, and it can give some references to their educational use, and we finally discuss the methods of research.The second chapter is to study the compiling concepts of "Practical Chinese for Tourism". It studies from the aspect of textbook type, application objects and reasons of compiling, teaching style and we analyze that "Practical Chinese for Tourism" as a kind of comprehensive textbook and it can be divided into four parts: saying, reading, listening and speaking. And its style is complete. To meet the needs of tourism, profession, and interests, the author think that we need to compile suitable textbooks for learners who are engaged in traveling or interested in touring for elective use.The third chapter is as respective study of Chinese textbook "Practical Chinese for Tourism". It mainly focuses analyzing texts, vocabulary, exercises, illustrations and cultural content of the textbook. Through analysis, we point out that the contents of reading part and listening part tourism are close to the cognition of "guide" Words and the spread of Chinese cultural knowledge, and its vocabulary comes from terminology in major of geography and tourism, so it is difficult to learn. Exercises is linked to text contents, and it is rich in the types of questions, and there are a lot of illustrations, and content is closely combined with text, so it can enhance students’ awareness of travelling place and improve students’ interest in learning.The fourth chapter is as an overall assessment and recommendations of the study of "Practical Chinese for Tourism". We mainly evaluate the textbook and conclude the strength and weakness of the textbook, and give some suggestions for improvement. Through analysis, we point out that "Practical Chinese for Tourism" is suitable for principles of compiling textbooks of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages, and it is practical, comprehensive, scientific, cultural, interesting and informative, is a textbook with the feature of "Function- Structure- Culture", and it is indeed suitable for learners who are engaged in traveling or interested in touring for elective use. But at the same time, this textbook can be improved in vocabulary, syntax and content selection.The fifth chapter 5 is the study of "Practical Chinese for Tourism" in the use of classroom teaching. Combined with teaching theory of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages and tourist Chinese, we explore the assumption of use of the textbook. We also put forward requirements on teachers’ knowledge and skills in the use of textbooks in classroom teaching and principles that we need to follow the principles in teaching and we need to put forward specific teaching skills and methods according to the teaching of language elements, language skills and cultural content.The six chapter is the conclusion part. It mainly summarizes the research of this paper, describes main point of view of research, and points out the strength and weakness of this research, and we look forward to the future development trend of tourists Chinese and the development of teaching of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages.
