This thesis offers a reflection on an attempted simultaneous interpretation of If You Are The One(selected edition), recorded on May 20, 2015. The program, with a history of more than six years, is well received in China in terms of rating, influence, word of mouth and so on. If You Are The One is a down-to-earth program, if we can remove the language barriers, it would be an excellent medium for foreigners to know about C hina. How to recommend this program to foreign audiences through interpreting and let them have a better picture of China is my focus. In this sense, it is of great significance to study this case of simultaneous interpreting. From the perspective of Memetics, this thesis discusses the interpretation choices and strategies that could be made and used throughout the interpreting project. Memetics deals with the development of words and expressions, and it asks interpreters to reflect on it when interpreting. Faced with the rapid spread of language memes, interpreters must advance with the times, and interpret them into accurate and authentic English according to language rules. Four types of difficulities were found during the simulated of simultaneous interpretation exercise of If You Are The One. They are the interpretation of puns, metaphor, network buzzwords and teasing and joking. This thesis points out that interpreters can adopt the strategies of explanations, free translation, literal translation and paraphrasing respectively based on the name of difficulities and thoughts of Memetics. It is argued that using proper translation strategies will help interpreters better accomplish their interpreting tasks.
