A Report On Interpreting Practice For A Public Finance Lecture

Finance plays an important role in economy,the total allocation of financial resources,the livelihood expenditures,the financial support for population income and the price subsidy expenditure and so on will affect the people’s living conditions.This thesis gives an account on the practice of simultaneous interpreting from Chinese to English.The interpreting practice described in this report is in the process of simultaneous interpreting of public finance course.The practice focused on the earthshaking changes that have taken place in China’s economy and society in the past 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the changes in China’s financial area.The report analyzes various problems that presented in the process of simultaneous interpreting from Chinese to English and discusses corresponding interpreting strategies and solutions to these problems.Under the guidance of the Paraphrase theory and combined with the reasonable strategy,the author completed this simultaneous interpreting practice.The author believes that the interpretation pursued by the Paraphrase theory is the interpreters can supplement the meaning of the original text through phonological symbols and his own cognition.Not the equivalence of linguistic units,but the equivalence of meaning or effect of the original text.This coincides with her idea.The Paraphrase theory is directly derived from interpreting practice,so the author believes that this theory is more instructive to her individual interpreting practice.The reasonable strategy is one of the most widely used strategies in interpreting practice.Interpreting is distinct from translation,because it has strong timeliness and rhythm on-site.On the premise of guaranteeing the quality of interpretation,simplified interpretation can better adapt to the on-site rhythm of simultaneous interpreting.This paper mainly used task analysis and comparative analysis.Through the analysis and comparison of the interpretation,problems can be found and resolved.The main problems are the changes of sentence structure in the speedy conversion from Chinese to English,inaccurate interpretation of figures and charts,lack of refinement and accuracy in interpretation of text parts,and the author also need to improve fluency and accuracy in interpretation.This paper introduces the background,guiding theory and structural arrangement of this interpreting practice at first,then introduces the whole interpreting process,including preparation before interpreting,interpreting stage and post-interpreting evaluation,and then analyzes and summarizes the entire interpreting practice.Through the description of the practice and case analysis,the sober report draws some conclusions.It proves the importance of preparation before interpreting again-whether the preparation work is sufficient or not has a decisive influence on the implementation of the simultaneous interpreting task.And in the interim preparation stage of simultaneous interpreting with draft,it is proposed to adopt the coping strategies of “quick browsing,grasping the main idea,combining prediction and early response”.These strategies are useful to deal with some negative effect caused by draft.At last,there are some conclusions and deficiencies,which is meaningful to some extent,though there being defects.
