The teaching of Chinese characters is the important part of teaching Chinese as the second language. In the recent years, the Chinese characters teaching has been gradually got attention by the academic circles. And the Chinese characters teaching divided into different part to deal with the problems that revealed in different countries. At present, the studies which dealing with the situation of Chinese education in Cambodia is rare, and the studies of Chinese characters teaching is much less. The author use the opportunity of teaching Chinese to do some analyses about Chinese characters teaching within two Chinese schools in Kampong Speu province.The paper is divided into six parts. The first part is the origin, introduces the research goal and the significance as well as the related concept of Chinese characters teaching, and also includes research objects and the method. The second part presents some details about the questionnaire, which could reveal some aspects of current situation about student’s learning Chines characters. Based on the interview with other teachers and students, the writer is trying to find out the way of teaching pattern. The third part summarizes errors of Chinese writing which revealed that the most common errors happened in strokes and unites writing. In the process to get the higher grades, the errors which present in Chinese writing have been changed from simple strokes to units and strokes order. The forth part analysis the problems during the Chinese characters teaching which according to the interviews with other Chinese teachers and other Chinese classes. And represents some causes, such as teaching methods too traditional, teachers lacking skills, students lacking motives or failed with learning strategies and so on. The fifth part concludes several suggestions to Cambodia Chinese schools and teachers. Firstly, Cambodia Chinese schools should enhance the normal management, reform the form and content of testing, training teachers to reach a high level, perfect the normal facilities and creating a new lesson about Chinese character. Secondly, teachers should make a progress about teaching acknowledge, changing the traditional teaching methods and pay attention to the process of teaching Chinese writing and correcting errors during the students writing and reading. The last part is conclusion.
