A Practice Report On Simulation-Based Interpreting Of Jack Ma’s Speech About Starting-up Business On January 22, 2013

The analysis and exploration of the problems and strategies will give some spirits to theoretical researches and interpreting practice in the future.The material selected is Jack Ma’s starting-up business speech in Win In China on January 22,2013.The practice report begins with the description of interpreting task and then it discusses the preparation works before interpreting and the process and results of the interpretation. Next, this report analyzes feedback forms written by the audiences. At last, several interpreting problems or errors have been identified and analyzed in the report with the interpreting strategies and techniques proposed in interpreting.It was unique on the language, contents and features. There are connotation vocabularies with rich Chinese culture included which are impressive, simple and important; there are many examples which are active in the thinking way; this is a no draft speech which is full of pet phrases and improvised and so on. It is a little difficult for the interpreter. This article can find valuable problems and inspect interpreters’abilities of language application and interpreting practice. Several specific strategies and solutions to interpreting problems or errors would be proposed for future tasks through analysis and discussion, this is the hope of the interpreter.The practice report has its own limitation. In order to get the meaningful data, the interpreter pays more attention to the place, design and audience composition which are much closer to the reality. The interpreter made preparation before interpretation, which includes interpreting evaluation sheets handed out to the audiences in the classroom for their opinions of interpreter’s performance. Later, several interpreting problems or errors in the interpreting process have been identified and analyzed in order to find out interpreting strategies and techniques.By analyzing the problems or errors of the interpreting results, we found out the shortage of the interpreter and came up with the ways to solve the problems and also made it clear that more practices, good logical ability of language, personal quality development and proficiency in interpreting skills are imporant besides well-prepared work before interpretation.
