Project Report On The Translation Of Research On The Sinicization Of Marxist Constitution Theory

The translation material is from a book named Research on the Sinicization of Marxist Constitution Theory. The book deeply clarifies the main constitution theories and practical matters of China with the principle of Marxism and introduces the fruits of the sinicization of Marxist constitution theory in detail, which makes a contribution to promoting the development of the sinicization of Marxist constitution theory.The translation material belongs to political essay with typical characteristics in professional words and sentence patterns. According to Newmark’s Text Typology Theory, the source text is a combination of three text types including the expressive text, informative text and vocative text. In the view of Newmark, different translation methods should be adopted according to different types of texts. Thus he put forward two translation methods:semantic translation and communicative translation. Since political essay is featured with concise language, accurate words, serious contents and clear logic, the principles of correctness and conciseness should be followed to make the translation be faithful to the original text as much as possible. Meanwhile, taking into account the fact that the targeted foreign readers are not familiar with Chinese culture and China’s national condition, the translator should explain the relevant words in the original text and make the translation conform to the expression habit of foreign readers. Therefore, both semantic and communicative translation methods are adopted in the process of translation. In this report, the translation methods of four-character phrases, words with Chinese characteristics, sentences without subjects, complex sentences and parallelism sentences are analyzed, with the purpose of providing reference for the translation of political essays in the future.
