Translation Study On The Three-Body Problem From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

The Three-Body Problem is a science fiction with distinct Chinese characteristics. The translation study of The Three-Body Problem under Skopos theory is aimed at finding out if the translation strategies adopted meet the requirements of Skopos theory and how can the theory guide literary translation practice.In the analysis of the translation, questions with respect to the skopos intended for the TT, translation strategies and the relationship between the three rules of Skopo theory are answered. And the answers constitute the main clue of this paper. Along the main clue, much attention is paid to studying the contents characteristic of The Three-Body Problem and these contents include:the background of the Cultural Revolution, the use of technology terms, the description of science fiction scenes, the borrowing of images of Chinese historical figures and the vivid depiction of characters. To make the translation study of the abovementioned contents convincing, examples are necessary. Through examples, the translation strategies and their relation with Skopos theory can be analyzed. The conclusion of the study is that the translation of The Three-Body Problem is consistent with Skopos theory and can provide inspirations for other fiction translations.
