The thesis comprises three parts: the source text of How You Downsize Is Who You Downsize: Biased Formalization, Accountability, and Managerial Diversity, its Chinese version translated by the author and a report on the translation. The source text analyzes how layoff formalization and actors’ antidiscrimination accountability affect women’s and minorities’ representation in management after downsizing. It is hoped that the translation may be of some significance to researchers in China. The translation report introduces the basic information about the source text and its characteristics, sketches the translation process and Functional Equivalence Theory, the guiding principle for this tranaltion. And stress is laid on illustrating how the author and translator realizes both lexical and syntactical equivalence. And his reflections are summed up.
