Study On The Translation Skills Of Long Sentences In Scientific English Translation

With the development of science and technology and the coming of information era, reading, translating and applying of English text of science and technology have been receiving increasing attention. However, because of its objective, rigorous,accurate and concise and having many long sentences, scientific English is difficult to translate into Chinese. On the basis of the translation of Search Engine Marketing,Inc.(Chapter 9), this report will explore and study translation skills of long sentences in English-Chinese translation of scientific text, including translating long sentences in sequence and in variable sequence, splitting off long sentences, converting the voice of long sentences and translating long sentences with comprehensive skills in order to make the Chinese version accord with Chinese logic and achieve the aim of conveying the scientific information.The report is divided into four parts, including Task Introduction, Description of the Translation Process, Case Analysis, and Conclusion. The first part introduces the source and feature of the text as well as the client’s requirements. The second part mainly describes pre-translation work, translation process and after-translation work.The third part discusses literature review of long sentences translation, case analysis under the direction of functional theories of translation, and solutions to some other issues. At last, strategies of long sentences translation and other gains will be summarized.
