Translation Report Of Technical Terminology And Long And Difficult Sentences In Scientific Japanese

With the progress of science,many new concepts and new terms have emerged in academia endlessly,and it is very important to master foreign scientific and technological materials.Established in 1957,Japan Synthetic Rubber Company is the largest synthetic rubber producer in Japan.It has BR,SBR,NBR and EPR production technologies.The annual output of rubber reaches 493,000 tons.In addition,the company is also involved in the fields of synthetic resins,digital solutions,life sciences,and chemicals.Since 2008,the company has published scientific and technological articles on its official website,and updated about 9 articles every year.The author selected four articles that were published from 2017 to 2019 with nearly 30,000 words for translation practice.In the actual translation process,it was discovered that the translation involved in technology area in Japanese has the following characteristics.Firstly,there are many loanwords.Then,the specialized words are complicated.Finally,the sentence pattern is always complex and long.Some rules and skills have been concluded in the practice.This report is divided into five parts which are task description,pre-translation analysis and preparation,vocabulary translation,long and difficult sentence translation,and summary of the practice.In vocabulary translation,case analysis and summary will be made in the aspects of loanwords,Japanese words and abbreviations.Besides,in the part of long and difficult sentence translation,it will focus on the specific question to discuss the strategies and skills.In brief,the purpose of this thesis is to provide some useful advises for the technological translation.
