Teaching Chinese character(Hanzi) is an important part of Chinese teaching. But at the beginning stage, especially for children, Hanzi teaching is always neglected. Most teachers only focus on listening and reading,which will have a bad influence on the future improvement of Chinese and the expression of written Chinese, and it leads to that students cannot read Chinese characters.Based on practical teaching of Chinese at Tbilisi No.180 Public School, the purpose of this thesis is to improve the level of students’ Hanzi, and to let them know the systematic and basic knowledge of Hanzi, and form a good habit of writing Hanzi. This thesis basically studies how to design classroom teaching of Chinese character, taking 180 school as an example. The study methods include: documentary research which mainly arranges the previous study of teaching Hanzi and Chinese teaching in Georgia. Classroom observation which observers students’ study in classroom. Interview survey and experimental method are also used. The first chapter is mainly about the purposes, reasons and study methods. And it concludes the prior study of Hanzi itself and Hanzi teaching. The second chapter introduces the situation of Chinese teaching in 180 school from the year 2013 to now. We analysis the learners(six children from 180 school) from Physiological factors, cognitive factors and affective factors. Then it analyses the questionnaire about the learners’ attitude towards learning Hanzi. After this, it gives a detail description of the learners from age, grade, English and Chinese learning level, characters, way of study and the performance in classroom. Chapter three introduces teaching theory from four aspects of teaching goal, teaching principles, teaching content and teaching methods. In chapter four, we put the design into practice. It includes four teaching plans, tests, teaching evaluation, and teaching advices. Lastly, the thesis makes a conclusion of the progress of learning Hanzi of this six children.
